MY LEFT BREAST

Earning both an Obie Award and the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize for the best play in the English speaking theatre written by a woman, My Left Breast is a passionate redefinition of self when “all definitions are off”. shameless hussy productions founder and Co-Artistic Director Deb Pickman stars in this one woman breast cancer experience. “Pickman is a fireball of energy…She gives her all in a performance of clarity and power.” The Vancouver Sun. Bonnie DANGEROUSLY:
fast times with that guy Clyde

Set against the backdrop of the “dirty thirties”, Bonnie DANGEROUSLY: fast times with that guy Clyde is a sizzling black comedy and a true crime adventure. Ride with the consummate bad girl, Bonnie Parker, and her lover, Clyde Barrow as they embark upon one of the most notorious and bloody crime sprees of the century. Bonnie DANGEROUSLY… is the portrait of a hellion and a revisionist look at her story. Company co-founder and Co-Artistic Director Renee Iaci stars as Bonnie Parker, the Dallas waitress turned gun moll, and Tom Jones stars as Clyde Barrow.

“THIS BONNIE REMINDS US OF A HURRICANE – Here’s a show that has it all: great performances, fine production, tight script… a whirling dervish of a show.” The Victoria Times Colonist.

Sonofabitch Stew: the drunken life of Calamity Jane

Truth is stranger than fiction. For the first time a play based on the electrifying true story of the woman behind the myth, Calamity Jane – Bullwhacker, Mule Skinner, Sharpshooter, Comrade of Will Bill Hickock, Legendary Hellraiser… and Mother?? Deb Pickman stars as a cussin’, fussin’, drinkin’, brawlin’, women’s studies professor who has become a legendary maverick by kissing off life’s middle-of-the-road for the rougher and more thrilling ride on the trail of her lifelong heroine Calamity Jane.

“A portrait of a hellion, a revisionist look at history, and a satire of academia rolled into one…Deb Pickman gives a riveting performance…so brilliantly conceived that every line warrants mention…the audience can’t help cheering and screaming with laughter. The Georgia Straight.

Woman Idiot, Lunatic Criminal

This passionate play brings to life the dedication and courage of the women and men who worked shoulder to shoulder in the historic campaign for woman suffrage. International in its scope, Woman Idiot Lunatic Criminal highlights the long struggle to gain voting rights for women in Canada, the U.S. and Great Britain. These brave women fought to overcome the indignity and injustice of the time, confronting laws such as the Canada Elections Act which stated in part that “No woman, idiot, lunatic or criminal …shall have the right to vote.” Incorporating newsreels, speeches, poetry, songs, journals, letters and newspaper accounts of the suffragettes from the mid 1800s to the early 1900’s, Woman Idiot, Lunatic Criminal brings to life the front lines of a passionate battle for equality and justice and the women who triumphed to lead the largest social transformation in modern history.

“Funny while sensitive and utterly sincere…brings the past into the present.” The Globe and Mail
