Elizabeth Ryan

Prowess Entertainment presents Canada’s Maven of Music ELIZABETH RYAN

What makes Elizabeth Ryan’s show so unique? Why it must be her line-up of unforgettable guests! They make appearances every time she performs. Some are famous faces from the past, while others are especially created from her personal recollections. As she transforms magically from one to the other, these special guests appear on stage with a story to tell and a song to sing.

But what about the remarkable band that seems to effortlessly carry the show along? They are magicians too. The Legendary Aristocrats can perform the tiny sweet bell-tones of chimes waving in a tropical breeze; then in a mere moment they can transform into a full Big Band sound. From swing to jazz, Latin to polka, disco to rock – they do it all under the masterful leadership of musician and musical arranger Robson Sutherland.

Prowess Entertainment is pleased to offer two productions starring Elizabeth Ryan for touring through to the end of the 2007 season: Rosie the Riveter and Sing and Swing. These shows are interactive musical productions presenting full entertainment value. Audience members receive amusing sing-a-long keepsake books, and this year to commemorate the 2005 Year of the Veteran, Rosie the Riveter audiences will receive 12” Canadian Flags.

ROSIE THE RIVETER
“Remembrance and Memorial Days are a celebration of Peace” proclaims poster girl Rosie the Riveter, and she should know! This optimistic character influenced the hearts and minds of millions during the Second World War, and now she’s back in a very special tribute performance dedicated to the courageous men and women who put service before self. This very special Year of the Veteran performance is a one-woman musical variety show dedicated to our Veterans and to those serving in the armed forces today. “Peace is about hope, and hope comes from a positive place”, she expounds. “Now more than ever we need to join together to enjoy the gift of liberty and freedom we have been given.”

Clad in her traditional red polka-dot bandanna and blue coveralls, Rosie the Riveter is thrilled to be hosting an entertainment show for the troops. She is joined on stage by an ensemble of very special guests, including the irreverent Mae West, the bombastic bombshell Carmen Miranda and Drill Sergeant Wallop. Asked about her special guests, Rosie smiles. “They bring magic to the show and their appeal is timeless. Plus…” she pauses, her eyes twinkling mischievously, “they really know how to get the folks waving the flag.” And, backing Rosie and her special guests all the way are the Legendary Aristocrats under the musical direction of Robson Sutherland.

SING AND SWING
Elizabeth Ryan’s Sing and Swing brings back the magic of Broadway. This one- woman Vaudeville-style show recalls stories of love and war, feast and famine through the unforgettable characters of the era. Elizabeth welcomes a host of famous guests, including Judy Garland, The Duke, and Lonely Joe – each with a story to tell and a song to sing. Joined by the Legendary Aristocrats led by Robson Sutherland, Elizabeth Ryan brings to life songs and stories from the roaring twenties, the dirty thirties and the unforgettable forties. Sing-along to timeless favourites such as Putting on the Ritz. Somewhere Over The Rainbow and You Made Me Love You. Sing and Swing promises an enjoyable night of song and fun for all ages, and don’t forget that from Top Hat to Spats, anything goes!
